At 2ToTango we teach a variety of dancing styles: Salon, Nuevo, Escenario, Vals and Milonga. We have held workshops and classes with quite a few international teachers over the last 10 years. We also organized the first tango festival in India in November 2011. We closely follow the dancing pedagogy of Sebastian Arce and Mariana Montes.
Argentine Tango is a partner dance that developed over the last century in Argentina's capital city, Buenos Aires. It is very different from the Tango in International and American ballroom dancing. Argentine Tango is an interpretive, improvisational social dance that allows the dancers to develop a deep connection between themselves, the music, and the environment in which they are dancing.
The tango consists of a variety of styles that developed in different regions and eras of Argentina as well as in other locations around the world.
Styles of Argentine Tango
In Buenos Aires and other parts of Argentina, tango is danced in a spectrum of individualistic or personal styles.
There are a number of distinguishable styles of Argentine tango :
tango de salon, Villa Urquiza, milonguero, club, orillero, canyengue, nuevo, fantasia and tango escenario.
The Tango music has seen a significant transformation over the last 100 years. Carlos Gardel is the biggest name among the Tango singers.
The well known Tango Artists ( singers,composers and dancers) from the last century are, Juan Carlos Copes. Carlos Gardel, Di Sarli, D’arienzo, Osvaldo Pugliese, Astor Paizolla, Anibal Troila , Horacio Ferrer, Azucena Maizani, Carlos Gavito, Ricardo Vidort, Pedro Tete Rusconi, Roberto Pocho Carreras.
